Christopher Redfearn is Chair of the Department of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Valley City State University. He conducts the Concert Choir and University Singers, and also teaches courses in conducting, vocal methods and pedagogy, music appreciation, and applied voice. He earned the Bachelor of Music in Education at Brigham Young University, the Master of Music in Conducting at Michigan State University, and the Doctor of Arts in Conducting and Education at the University of Northern Colorado. Redfearn has experience conducting choirs at all age levels, from elementary through high school students, collegiate ensembles, and adult community choirs. He has seven years of teaching experience in high school choral positions in Idaho and Michigan. His high school choirs consistently scored superior ratings at choral festivals. Redfearn recently led the Colorado Mormon Chorale in a juried performance at the 2012 Colorado Music Educators Association Conference, the only community ensemble invited to do so. He led the VCSU Concert Choir in a European concert tour in May 2014, performing throughout Austria and the Czech Republic. Redfearn has studied conducting and choral literature with Ronald Staheli, Mack Wilberg, David Rayl, Jonathan Reed, Mary Alice Stollak, Jill Burleson, and Galen Darrough.
