CS 124 is an introduction to programming using C++, that is handled in distance mode. It was formerly numbered 199.

Introductory Course Information

This course is rather unusual in that is has no scheduled meeting times and is only loosely based on the normal schedule of the University. Prospective students meet with the instructor for an orientation. This meeting may be in person or through a variety of electronic means, such as internet conferencing, email or telephone.
Once the orientation is complete the student pursues their studies in the ProgrammingLand MOO. There they obtain course content, reach milestones and receive assignments. The main communication between the student and instructor is through email.
This is a pass / fail course, so there will be no tests. However, the MOO will make programming assignments that will be emailed to the instructor, graded and then returned.

Students are asked to browse the check list needed for entering the course.

Borland C++Builder files

Condefs.h is an enhanced version of the standard library. It supports delay() and other things. Download condefs.h for C++Builder version 6.h. Save it in your c:\Progam Files\Borland\Cbuilder6\include directory, where it should replace a prior version. You may need to do a right click on the link to save it, depending on your browser. It should not be saved as a text file.

Download the compiler patches from Borland's Developer Support Site. You must have registered yourself after installing the compiler, since this takes a name and password.

The download center. The important one for this class is TorqueMOODa.

The ProgrammingLand MOO is an interactive museum of information and exercises concerning programming languages. In this class the MOO will function as the textbook. There is a C++ wing to the museum. This MOO may be accessed nicely with a Java enabled browser here., but other MOO clients are available at the MOO information and clients page. You should read the Introduction to ProgrammingLand which is a Microsoft Word format document.
