The current emphasis of activity is the development of the ProgrammingLand MOO for online instruction in programming and programming languages. He is a member of the World Wide Web Instructional Committee. The following is a list of conferences, presentations, papers and other activities that Curt has participated in. The list is ordered most recent first.

• Had a paper entitled Towards Musical Analysis Tools by Curt Hill and Sara Hagen accepted for presentation at MICS 2008. A classic spring snow prevented Curt from making this presentation, but the paper is in the proceedings.

• Reviewed several panel proposals for SIGCSE conference.

• Reviewed two papers for West Virginia EPSCOR Research Challenge Grant program.
• Was named as a consultant for a Department of Education grant: Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program. (MSEIP). Turtle Mountain Community College has received funding for to develop a Computer Science curriculum. Curt will mentor faculty and help to develop curriculum.
• Was a coauthor of a paper and a poster session accepted by ED-MEDIA 2007. The paper was entitled A Cognitive Model for Learning Java by Vijayakumar Shanmugasundaram, Paul Juell, Curt Hill and Kendal Nygard. The poster was entitled Effectiveness of BlueJ in Learning Java by Vijayakumar Shanmugasundaram, Paul Juell, Curt Hill and Kendal Nygard. This conference will be held June 25-29, 2007 in Vancouver, Canada.
• Served as a reviewer for ITiCSE 2007, by reviewing two papers.
• Had a paper accepted entitled Measuring the Effectiveness of ProgrammingLand by Curt Hill, Brian M. Slator and Vijayakumar Shanmugasundaram at the IASTED International Conference on Web Based Education (WBE 2007) in Chamonix, France, 2007.

• NSF Granted an ITR proposal. The proposal titled: Accelerating Computer Science Education. Number: EIA 0313154. Effective date was October 1, 2003 for a three year period.
• Presented a paper at Midwest Instructional and Computing Symposium 2003 entitled Parsers and Learning Programming in ProgrammingLand by Curt Hill, April 11-12, 2003 in Duluth, MN. The Powerpoint presentation.
• Served on the committee to evaluate new VCSU laptops. As part of this developed a suite of programs for evaluating the laptop, which are on the downloads page.
• Finished course work at NDSU. Officially ABD.

• Authored a Windows interface for the LEAP RDBMS. LEAP is a console type program and this interface makes it easy to use in a Windows 95/98/NT environment.

• Attended Borland Developer's Conference in Denver, Colorado, August 9-12, 1998. This trip was funded by a Bush Grant. The report of the conference. While there, Curt made a presentation: Teaching with the Builders, which dealt with experiences in teaching with C++Builder and JBuilder, both Borland Products.
