Curt's Place
- Borland (formerly Borland, then Inprise, now Borland again) produces outstanding programming language tools and middleware. The Inprise/Borland products used here include C++Builder, JBuilder, Turbo Pascal, Turbo C, Borland Pascal, Kylix and Delphi.
- CodeGear is the spin off from Borland, which now is continuing the developer tradition. Their version of
Code Central
- GNU or Free Software Foundationis the pre-eminent open-source organization. Their contributions to LINUX and other projects have made today's computer and network environment what it is today.
- high wired enCore which distributes the MOO core used in ProgrammingLand. They are not really a vendor since we do not pay them, but essential anyway.
The Java Web Site
- Microsoft. The de facto standard for PC operating systems and most other software. We are using XP, for operating systems and XP Office for office applications, among others. We also had a strong relationship with Great Plains before it became division of Microsoft and continue to do so.
- MySQL. The best of the open source databases. We are using currently using 4.0 of the server and 0.9.3 MySQL Control Center.
- Mozilla is the open-source organization that makes the rendering engine for Netscape as well as its own browser. With AOL pulling the plug on Netscape the Mozilla browsers are the best alternatives to IE. Curt uses Firefox for a browser and the Thunderbird mail client.
- SourceForge is a open-source repository of the code of many different projects.
